Community-Led 💬 What's on the Minds of Early Adopters #6
Virtual interns, untangling data and DevSecOps
Welcome to Community-Led. Each week we connect founders to dozens of early adopters and technology executives in fast growing startups and Fortune 500 companies. This newsletter surfaces the most interesting insights and conversations across the >1,000 members of the Decibel community every month. Let’s dive in!
This month we celebrate the one year anniversary of the Decibel internship program! The internship program is a paid, virtual, and flexible way for (rockstar) interns to actively participate in driving value to our Decibel founders by supporting business and early adopter community development, content creation, founder services offerings and due diligence support. Our interns have video conferenced in from as far away as Dubai and as close as Palo Alto and seemingly everywhere in between - LA, Chicago, Philly, London, NYC and Denver. Each intern brings a unique perspective and we count a Gen Z VC leader and a Tokyo Olympian as current and former Decibel interns!
We are currently interviewing for our next cohort of interns to join our team this fall to experience, and meaningfully contribute to, Decibel’s Unfair Advantage. Please drop me a note at stacey@decibel.vc for more information.
The Watercooler: What we’re hearing in the Community
One Big Trend Worth Your Time
Remember waterfall style development? Where one project would slowly be passed down the engineering org chart until it finally had enough stamps of approval to go live? DevOps and Agile processes made those practices feel (rightfully) antiquated. Now, with nimble, fast-paced, asynchronous software development embedded into our engineering organizations, how do we make sure that we can still prioritize supply chain security? That’s one big theme we’re thinking about this week.Â

An Inside Look at Innovation
The last year of serious cybersecurity incidents has made it abundantly clear that identifying risks and threats ahead of time is critical to every organization. Censys is helping companies do just that with the gold standard solution for attack surface management; their best-in-class Internet scanning technology allows them to show you what your attack surface looks like by continuously scanning the internet and logging every port and protocol that can be mapped to you uncovering security risks and misconfigurations within them. With a unique perspective on cloud environments (via their cloud security module) and a deep focus on M&A, Censys is the Google of internet-connected devices.
